Ubisoft is letting owners of its Xbox games play select titles for free on PC as part of a new partnership with Microsoft

Here’s how it works: if you own a digital copy of the following Ubisoft games on Xbox, they will now show up under your Ubisoft Connect account to download and play on PC:

Ubisoft Connect is the company’s PC launcher, though it also acts as a social layer that allows players to connect across platforms. Microsoft notes all new purchases of the above games should show up there immediately, but that you should allow until 4th August for previously purchased titles to appear.

Additionally, there are certain limitations to consider here. For starters, the scheme doesn’t work the opposite way – i.e., you won’t be able to turn your PC games into digital Xbox copies – and Microsoft has also clarified that while owned DLC will transfer to PC, consumable items and in-game currency may not. A good way to see what’s been carried over is to view a game’s Properties page on Ubisoft Connect on PC.

The second announcement worth bringing attention to is that several Ubisoft games with premium editions are now available on the Xbox app on PC. These include Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, Skull and Bones, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown among others. Furthermore, a few others from Ubisoft’s various franchises will also have their add-ons available to buy on the Xbox app on PC.
