Take a look at most modern PC gaming setups, and you’ll find some RGB lighting somewhere. Blazing LEDs and PC gaming have gone hand in hand for what feels like generations now, but I want to know where you stand—are you down with the RGB clown, or does the whole neon-lit endeavour make your stomach turn?
Or perhaps your preferences sit somewhere in between? Whatever the case, I’d be grateful if you’d answer the poll below and tell me how much RGB currently festoons your personal PC gaming setup.
Did I miss something? There’s no accounting for taste, as the old saying goes, so feel free to tell me in the comments what particular flavour of arr-gee-bee setup you’re running. If any at all, of course.
Personally, I like a good dose of solid-colour lighting to bathe me in neon while I game, but I’m not sold on the full unicorn vomit rainbow display. My first port of call when testing an RGB-lit gaming keyboard is normally the lighting section of the software, as most of the models I test are set to some sort of eye-searing wave pattern straight from the box.
And there are enough distractions in modern life without my peripherals winking at me all day long. The exception, however, is my Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 kit, which has been softly glowing in rainbow tones since the day I first installed it three years ago.
Occasionally I stare at those modules, nestled in my otherwise all-red PC, and wonder whether I should change the settings. Yet they’ve been there long enough to be oddly comforting, creating a dash of contrast in what otherwise might be a rather dull, one-colour lighting setup.
And now I look at the photos, I’ve realised the topside of my graphics card is pumping a little bit of extra colour into the whole affair. I sit next to this rig all day long and I’ve never really noticed.
Perhaps I find a bit of rainbow RGB soothing after all? Anyway, the question is this: Full RGB, not for me, or something in between? Get thee to the polling booth, PC gamers. Please and thank you, and all that.
