That mission is built around the idea that a 3D printer should feel like a creative partner. We spoke with Jagger Shang, Global President of AtomForm, to find out more about what the brand has in store.
Asking Jagger Shang about AtomForm’s goals quickly makes it clear that AtomForm has invested as heavily in its software as in the printer itself. “The Palette 300 is about more than just high-performance hardware,” he says. “It’s the centerpiece of a much larger vision. We’re building a complete creative ecosystem that brings together powerful yet intuitive software and a rich content and community platform.”
That ecosystem is designed to close the loop between finding inspiration and holding a finished object. “Users can explore ideas on AtomVerse, then jump straight into AtomForm Studio to set up and start a print remotely with just a few clicks,” he explains.
That loop runs on two platforms. AtomForm Studio functions as a full print workflow manager, with features like Print Queue, which handles setup and slicing for multi-part jobs in a single pass, Device Management, to run multiple printers from a single screen, and Easy Mode, which automates things that would intimidate first-time users.
Meanwhile, AtomVerse is AtomForm’s model repository, built to help anyone unfamiliar with 3D printing software get started right. It offers free courses alongside a reward system that pays creators when their models get printed or downloaded.
The company name is a nod to the fundamental process behind every 3D print. “At its core, 3D printing is about breaking materials down and building them back up,” Shang says, and extends that idea down to the smallest possible scale.
He adds, “The smallest building block of the physical world is the atom. If we can master the ability to reshape at that level, then anything we can imagine in the digital space can be brought to life in the real one. That’s the idea behind the name AtomForm.”
The highlight of the Palette 300 is that it swaps materials in under a minute with no cross-contamination, cutting filament waste by up to 90% and improving filament‑switching efficiency by 50%, significantly addressing the industry‑wide problems of low efficiency and high waste in traditional multi‑color and multi‑material printing.
He also makes it clear that the Palette 300 is only the start. While it’s built for creative professionals and small studios, AtomForm is also developing a consumer-focused printer for a much wider audience. The upcoming 3D printer is designed for everyday use and built to turn 3D printing from a niche into something everybody can pick up without a steep learning curve.
The new 3D printer aims to bring multi-color and multi-material printing to every household. It features a system that reduces color-change wait times and material waste. And a fully enclosed frame keeps prints clean and stable, whether that’s a school project you’re finishing or a batch of customized gifts you are making at home.
Like the Palette 300, the new 3D printer connects to AtomForm’s software platforms and the AtomVerse content ecosystem, so you can browse models, queue prints, and monitor jobs without any prior 3D printing experience. “Our focus from day one has been on making multi-color and multi-material printing a genuinely good experience, not a hassle,” Shang explains.
Palette 300’s Gold win at the 2026 London Design Awards, along with its MUSE and iF Design Award wins, puts AtomForm in a select group. Three of the world’s top design institutions now share the same belief: 3D printing should be on a creator’s desk, not just an engineer’s bench.
This recognition comes at a key time for the industry. Desktop 3D printing used to focus on hardware specs, build volume, print speed, and nozzle count, but that way of competing is changing. Now that multi-material and multi-color features are becoming standard, the printer is just one part of a bigger system. What will set companies apart is how well hardware, software, and content work together.
AtomForm was designed for this new era. Its strong engineering background, together with a creative ecosystem that includes AtomForm Studio and the AtomVerse model library, supports a range of products for everyone from individual creators and small studios to everyday households. This makes 3D printing not just more powerful, but truly more accessible. Palette 300 is only the beginning. The new 3D printer is also coming soon, so please check our official website for updates.
